Valencia Gay Games 2026
27 June 2026 - 4 July 2026
Valencia, Spain, Valencia, Spain

The Gay Games XII Valencia 2026 is a major international LGBTQ+ sporting and cultural event promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion. Held every four years, the Gay Games are open to anyone aged 18 and over, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, background, or physical ability.
Founded in 1982 by Olympic athlete Dr. Tom Waddell, the Gay Games have grown into the world’s largest LGBTQ+ sporting and cultural gathering. What began in San Francisco with just over a thousand participants now brings together tens of thousands of athletes, artists, and visitors from around the world. More than a competition, it is a global celebration of community, participation, and visibility.
What to Expect in 2026
Valencia will host a week-long programme that blends sport, culture, and community. The 2026 edition features 38 sports disciplines, ranging from swimming and athletics to tennis and team sports, all designed to be inclusive and accessible to every level of experience.
Alongside the sporting events, visitors can expect a strong cultural programme with performances, exhibitions, and LGBTQ+ arts events taking place across the city. Traditional Valencian sports such as pilota valenciana and colpbol will also be showcased, giving the Games a distinctive local flavour.
A central Festival Village will act as a daily meeting point, offering entertainment, social events, and a space to connect with other visitors throughout the week.

Opening and Closing Ceremonies
The Opening and Closing Ceremonies will take place on 27 June and 4 July 2026, marking the beginning and end of the Games. These large-scale celebrations typically combine athlete parades, live performances, and high-energy production.
Valencia is well known for its spectacular fireworks displays, and the ceremonies are expected to reflect that, with major cultural venues such as the Palau de les Arts and Palau de la Música contributing to the overall experience.
Venues Across Valencia
Events will be held across multiple venues throughout Valencia, from modern sports complexes to established cultural spaces. Many locations are centrally positioned or within easy reach of the beach and city centre, making it easy to move between events while exploring the city.
This layout allows visitors to experience different sides of Valencia, from its historic districts to its waterfront areas, all while attending the Games.
Participation and Tickets
Anyone aged 18 or over can take part in the Gay Games, with no qualification standards required. The event is designed to be fully inclusive, welcoming both first-time participants and experienced athletes.
Registration is currently open via the official website, with pricing depending on when you sign up. Spectators are also welcome, with many events open to the public alongside ticketed ceremonies and key competitions.
