Gayer than ever since the change in door policy. The PEEL, now exempt from the Anti-Discrimination Act, is a predominantly gay male venue that has been around for over 30 years.
There are 3 bars, a dance floor and a courtyard. Open on Fridays and Saturdays with regular special events and drag acts. The dance floor is open for everyone who enjoys dance tunes like the best of Whitney and JLo on Fridays and 80s hits on Saturdays.

My old shoe
It doesn’t matter how long it is between my visits to my favourite venue, The Peel always feels welcoming and safe. I have many fond memories of this place including meeting my first boyfriend - oh yes, and my second boyfriend and….
I also find that it’s the most diverse bar I’ve ever been in. Most places have 80+% of patrons who are all “similar”. The Peel seems to have a mix of everyone. Young, Old, Gorgeous, Not So Gorgeous, Tradies, Professionals, Drags, Trans, and everyone in between. I also think having no cover charges and pub prices plays a big part in why this place is busy.
