UK's first gay & lesbian bookshop (since 1979).
Gay's The Word carries a wide range of books including fiction, non-fiction, queer philosophy, politics, history and other scholarly works.
Make sure you say hi to Jim, the manager, who has been working at the shop since 1989. Fun fact: this shop was opened by a chap called Ernest Hole.

So much more than big box stores
One of the first places I visit when I arrive from the U.S. Wonderful selection of books and informative, well-read staff.
