Mandarin Hotel (not to be confused with the 5-star Mandarin Oriental) is just a few steps from the Sam Yan MRT subway. A taxi to MBK or Siam Paragon shopping malls should not cost more than 50 baht (about US$1.50).
Modern deluxe rooms & suites feature a comfortable bed, flat screen cable TV, free WiFi, fridge, kettle and microwave. There's a small gym and swimming pool, too.
